Ken Evoy has just released a top flight book you can begin using today to build a successful business. And he has also surprised us again. In a positive way, of course. But hey, who would have thought you could make a buck at eBay?
In MYNAS (”Make Your Net Auction Sell”), Sydney Johnson explains exactly how she makes lots of bucks, day in and day out. And she shows you how to do the same thing.

When I sat down to read this book, I really wasn’t in the mood. I was certain my time would be better spent tackling my accumulating list of past due chores. Besides, I’ve never been to eBay. Never considered visiting. And I don’t like auctions. What in the world could be a value to me in a book with this title? |
Before finishing the first page, I was hooked. And I didn’t quit until the last word on the last page. Johnson is a terrific writer. She spells things out with remarkable clarity; it’s all super easy to follow. Further, she has a delightfully wry sense of humor that I particularly enjoy. This book is flat fun to read.
Nothing is held back. Johnson shares everything. All the nitty gritty details are provided. And I can’t identify a topic overlooked. She clearly defines a winning strategy, for both buying and selling.
I don’t recall where, but Ken Evoy suggested reading the book, then returning to the beginning to execute the recommendations step by step. This is the perfect approach. There is simply too much here to be completely absorbed in a single read.
There is nothing complicated about any of it. It is the shear quantity of detailed information that makes it seem so. But when you attack it a piece at a time, it’s a snap. While it will take a while to master the finer points, to lock them in as part of your bag of tricks, this learning curve is far shorter than most. And not steep at any point.
Johnson suggests we begin our auction experience by buying something at eBay. The idea is to get a feeling for how a buyer feels. However, the essential content is all about successfully selling.
As in any business, there is a downside. For example, unhappy customers must be dealt with. But Johnson has anticipated the pitfalls and built great solutions that will work for you as they do for her.
Keeping records is a pain. Staying ahead of the tax collector is a bore. All such business matters are chores. But after finishing this book, then mentally trying to grasp the whole of it, what shines though to me is the fun of it all. Clearly Johnson enjoys it immensely. Read her book, and you’ll see why.
The auction model differs from that of other online businesses in several fundamental ways. These differences may mean this model exactly fits your needs.
The basics remain unchanged. You need great product(s). You need a powerful way in which to offer your product. And you need to draw targeted traffic.
The auction model simplifies this picture. Rather than a dynamic website driven by powerful sales copy, you need only great ads to be placed on eBay (or any auction site). More important, targeted traffic will seek you out, for eBay draws a large crowd of determined shoppers. All is organized by categories which makes it easy for regular visitors to find you. And their search engines deliver interested visitors right to your trading post. If you have a great product at a reasonable price, it will sell.
As in building an online business with a website, you will be more successful working within a niche in which you are comfortable. However, given the opportunity, it is not difficult to trade outside your niche. And you can do so without appearing to be off-target, as would be true with a website.
Further, you need to know the fundamentals of doing business on the Web. But even in this, the auction model requires mastery of far less than is needed in most businesses. As with all else, Johnson spells out these needs in a clear, easy-to-understand manner.
MYNAS is a great book written by someone who knows what she is about. Here’s a quote. Hopefully it will give you the flavor of both Johnson’s honesty and frankness. “What is the auction game? It is exciting, challenging, frustrating, fascinating, nerve-wracking, rewarding, and on and on. But never boring.”
This sounds like my kind of game. Whether you simply want to clear out your attic and pick up a few bucks, or build a world class business, MYNAS is for you. Do it right, and your first trade on eBay will return several times the cost of the book.

While Ken’s presentation is great, you can save some time by scrolling to the bottom of it, then order. Again, this product is being priced dynamically. Which means you can submit a bid a bit lower than the current price, then cross your fingers. This may be the way to buy a book about net auctions. However the smart move might be to buy it at the current price, so that you can get started sooner.
